Our Mission
“To conserve a healthy Tennessee River Gorge as a community treasure for generations.”
Protecting and Conserving Land Since 1981
With the help of our community, TRGT has protected roughly 8,000 acres of land through fee simple ownership and protects roughly 17,000 acres through a combination of land ownership, conservation easements, and MOUs.
Connecting Our Community with the Gorge
TRGT prioritizes providing public access so our community and visitors can explore the gorge. TRGT provides and manages 6 trail systems, 3 campgrounds, 3 climbing areas, 2 caves, and more. Stay tuned for new access areas coming soon!
Conservation-based Land Management and Research
As a steward of thousands of acres in the gorge, it’s critical to understand the unique ecological communities within our protected lands. Our team and partners conduct a variety of environmental research to better understand how to manage lands on a local and regional scale. There are also imperiled habitat within our already protected lands that are in dire need of science-based restoration.
Gorgeous Adventures
Our team and partners provide an array of guided outdoor experiences from publi bird banding, sunset paddles, river cruises, hikes, and bird watching excursions. Check out our events page to learn more. We hope you’ll join us!
