Kayak through Chattanooga's most gorgeous scenery and support the Tennessee River Gorge Trust's conservation efforts.
We'll kayak down the Tennessee River from the Suck Creek boat ramp, take a lunch break at the TRGT bird lab, and hike around a bit. We'll return to our kayaks and paddle another 90 minutes downriver to finish up the day.
Outdoor Chattanooga will provide all paddling equipment, a shuttle back to the launch site and professional guides. All paddlers are asked to use Outdoor Chattanooga kayaks as this ensures that all paddlers travel at a similar speed and that the kayaks can be placed on their trailer.
No previous paddling experience is necessary as this is beginner friendly paddle that will travel at a leisurely pace. The distance is app. 8 miles.
Time: 8:00 AM to approx. 3:00 PM; 3 hours total of paddling
What to bring: Sack lunch, dry bag(s) (or Ziploc bags), plenty of water, Crazy Creek chair (optional), sunscreen, bug spray
Adults only. No previous kayaking experience necessary. May be windy, so dress appropriately. There will be composting toilet facilities at the bird lab. More information about the Bird Observatory is found here www.trgt.org.
