Tennessee River Rescue

On Saturday, October 4, 2008, the TN River Rescue celebrated its 20th anniversary.  Tennessee River Gorge Trust volunteers joined more than 1,000 volunteers around the region to pick up trash and make the Tennessee river a more beautiful place.

At the Suck Creek boat ramp site, almost 60 volunteers joined forces to pick up more than 10 bags of recycling, 100 bags of trash, 36 tires, a couch, roofing shingles, and much more.  Volunteers included students and parents from Nolan Elementary, TRGT volunteers, and members of the Tennessee Valley Canoe Club.  There were 19 other sites from Cleveland to Hales Bar Marina.  It was a beautiful day, and one that reminds you how much we can accomplish when we work together!  For more information about the River Rescue, please visit www.tennesseeriverrescue.com.
