The Tennessee River Gorge Trust held its first-ever Firefly Festival in July. Eighty participants joined us at the Pot Point Cabin for a fun and unforgettable learning experience. Stories about fireflies, owls, and other nocturnal animals were followed by games and a picnic on the cabin lawn. After dinner, the group roasted marshmallows and feasted on s'mores.
Inside, children created art inspired by nocturnal amphibians and insects found in the Gorge. Outside, the group learned about fireflies and other creatures of the night, then used their non-visual senses to experience an exciting riverside night hike.
