The Chattanooga Nature Center, Tennessee Aquarium, UTC, and Reflection Riding Arboretum and Botanical Garden will host the second annual Chattanooga BioBlitz. Last year this outstanding event brought together over 200 scientists, volunteers and program participants from around the region to explore and celebrate our region’s extraordinary biodiversity. Over the course of 24 hours, almost 700 species of plants and animals residing at the nature center, Reflection Riding and in Lookout Creek were counted and identified.
This experience is part contest, festival, educational event and scientific endeavor. Observe and interact with scientists and experts who will race against time to see how many species can be counted during a 24-hour biological survey. Participate in interactive activities including a night hike and insect backlighting on Friday and games, crafts and live animal encounters on Saturday. Learn about the biodiversity of our region and how to reduce our impact on the environment.
This event is for all ages and is free to the public!
