Donate to the Gateway to the Gorge Land Campaign

We need your help!

We are currently working to protect in perpetuity 308 acres of the Tennessee River Gorge....the “Gateway to the Gorge.”
Help us prevent development, protect rare and endangered plant life, conserve wildlife habitat, and ensure that the western view shed of Chattanooga remains scenic and naturally beautiful with a donation to this land campaign.

We have raised much of the money needed to complete the transaction, but we still need to raise $177,000 by June 2010 for the “Gateway to the Gorge” project.

Gifts like yours will go into action now to:

  • Protect the western view shed of Chattanooga by establishing a new conservation easement on 308-acres.  Most of the remaining land in the Tennessee River Gorge can best be protected through conservation easements, which allow the land to remain in private ownership while ensuring that the land will not be developed or abused in the future.
  • Protect this ecologically and historically significant property which harbors some of the most pristine forest habitat in the Gorge.  Furthermore, it contains remnant entrenchments from the Civil War “Siege of Chattanooga” as well as portions of a Confederate military road that led to the top of Elder Mountain.
  • Ensure that the Tennessee River Gorge Trust has the financial foundation necessary to continue ongoing land acquisition efforts, education, and land stewardship operations for future generations.

Our work is urgent, but our accomplishments are long-lasting.  The natural vistas you have helped to protect and enjoy today will be there for generations to come.  We invite you to contribute now to protect “Tennessee’s Grand Canyon.”

100% of your tax deductible gift will go toward the purchase of this conservation easement.  If you contribute $25 or more to the Tennessee River Gorge Trust this year, you'll also receive a free introductory membership with full TRGT member benefits.

Not convinced?  Have additional concerns or questions?  If so, please call us at 423-266-0314.  We are more than happy to discuss this land preservation effort with you in addition to any other questions you may have!  Or email Julie Beach at julieb@trgt.org, TRGT Business and Development Director.

You can donate in the following ways:

Online:  Click here to use our secure online donation form.

By Mail:  Download the Gateway to the Gorge donation form, fill out, and mail to the office at:  535 Chestnut Street, Suite 214, Chattanooga, TN, 37402.  You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to open this form.

By phone:  Call 423-266-0314, Monday through Friday, 9AM to 5PM.

No gift is too small!  And feel free to divide your gift up for more than one purpose, such as an honorary or memorial gift for someone special, a gift to the premanently restricted endowment fund, or to the general operating fund....in addition to the Gateway to the Gorge land campaign.

Thank you in advance for your much needed and greatly appreciated support!

Sincerely,

TRGT
