Community Outreach Director, sarahq@trgt.org

After earning her degree in Human Services Management from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, Sarah worked as an education coordinator for the Houston Museum of Decorative Arts in Chattanooga and then as a case manager for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Johnson County in Iowa City, Iowa.  In 2006, she and her family happily returned to Chattanooga (and the mountains) and she was employed as the the United Way's Center for Nonprofits' shared volunteer coordinator for TRGT, Lookout Mountain Conservancy, and Reflection Riding Arboretum & Botanical Garden until December 2008, when she took on this full-time position with the Trust.   Sarah is married to Sam and they have a very energetic five-year-old son, a wonderful two-year-old little girl, one cat, two dogs and a frog.  There is never a dull moment in their household!

Cheryl Powell

Administrative Assistant, cherylp@trgt.org

Cheryl Powell joined the TRGT staff in the Spring of 2011 and has been a welcome addition!  She has lived in Chattanooga since 1981 and served as adjunct faculty at Cleveland State in mathematics and taught Business Statistics at UTC.  She worked as an actuary at a local insurance company for 28 years.

Cheryl is married to John and has two grown children, Hannah, who works with UTC athletics and Grant, who is studying to be a music therapist.  She and John have two miniature dachsunds, a miniature pinscher, and a pond full of koi and goldfish (as long as the heron stay away)!  In addition, she has a German Shepherd "granddog."

In her "spare" time, Cheryl enjoys volunteering as a Tennessee Aquarium docent, at the Ronald McDonald House and Family Room, at First Centenary United Methodist Church Inner City Ministries After-School Reading Room and at the church's sound board for televised and live stream video church service.  She also volunteers at the Chattanooga Arboretum & Nature Center.  Cheryl enjoys gardening, bird feeding and watching, sewing and crocheting.
